Price: 50 Euros

Food is medicine. Ayurveda teaches that in order for our body to be satisfied and satiated we need all 6 tastes in our meals. These 6 tastes are: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, astringent. If we give our body the 6 tastes in each meal then we are supplying the body with tools to maintain health and vitality.
I offer Ayurvedic cooking classes that will teach you about:
Simple healthy recipes for:
1. Kitchari
2. Ghee
3. Whole grains
4. Main courses
You will be cooking and eating your own recipes and take home printed recipes for you to make on your own.
Remember, Ayurvedic cooking does not mean Indian food.
Ayurvedic cooking and Indian cooking is not one in the same. Though Ayurveda does come from India, the wisdom of Ayurvedic cooking is about adding ingredients that include the 6 tastes and what tastes are best for you specifically. I will be giving you recipes that are from the foods you are used to eating and can easily get from your local markets.

N
You literally are what you eat. Ok, I know you have heard that saying at least a million times, but have you really stopped to think about what that means? If you answered yes then you are rare indeed. Most people dont consciously connect that what they are putting in their body becomes their body. It really hit me when I was pregnant with my first child. I realized that everything that I was eating was creating a little body. Ive always known food could contribute to my health but it was when I was pregnant that I started to really care about what I was eating.
I now use those realizations of my pregnancy days to help clients. I would recommend that if you are concerned about your health or if you want to improve your health then pay attention to what you are eating. This may sound too time consuming or not something you want to be bothered with, but if you are suffering from health issues then I suggest you do the following:
·Look at the label. Anything that you dont know on that label has a good chance of creating digestive problems in your body because it doesnt know how to digest it. All those additives are creating heaviness and too many additives can lead to skin rashes or weight gain.
·Eat freshly cooked foods. Foods more than 24 hours old tend to lose their freshness and the ability to turn to energy. The whole purpose of us eating food is so our body can break it down into energy and to repair or build tissue and blood. If you are tired after eating or you feel heavy then it could be because the food is old. Freshly cooked foods should give you energy and make you feel good.
·Stop using the microwave!! Microwaves zap the energy from the food. This means that after microwaving you are only feeding the body bulk and no longer giving it a chance to absorb the life energy. While cooking over a fire is a natural way of cooking, microwaving is not.
·Buy organic. Organic foods do not have pesticides, herbicides or hormones added. When we eat food that isnt organic we are adding unnecessary additives to our bodies that will eventually create health problems.
·Cut back on tinned or canned foods. These foods also lack life energy. The exception is if you have canned the food yourself. While your freshly canned foods wont have as much life energy as a fresh food, they will have more than any that you buy off the shelf in a supermarket.
·Buy food packaged in glass rather than plastic. This, I admit, is not an easy one to get 100% right as most things are packaged in plastic especially here in Ireland. But, when you have an option always choose the one that is in glass as the glass isnt a toxic substance and it wont leak into the foods that are stored in them.
Overall, if you care about the quality of your food then you will have the best chances of having a healthy body. If you dont care about your food you will most certainly experience health problems be it digestive, low energy, weight gain/loss, heart problems, mood swings, PMS or extreme menopausal symptoms, all of these things are a sign that your body isnt as healthy as it could be.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:
Q: Is Ayurveda a form of Yoga?
A: No, Ayurveda is a science that comes from the same ancient history as yoga, but teaches you what foods are best for your body type, what lifestyle habits are most balancing for you and much more. The Ayurvedic practioner may suggest that you do yoga asana, but it is not a form of yoga.
Q: Are there different styles of Ayurveda?
A: No, there is only one ayurveda, but there are various disciplines of Ayurveda treatment that include:
Q: I've heard Ayurveda is very complicated and there are a lot of rules that you have to follow. Is that true?
A: Some may feel that Ayurveda is complicated because there is no hard rule when it comes to treating someone. Each person is individual in their path to health. There are some "rules" that Ayurveda teaches that most people will benefit from which include your daily routine, but this also varies slightly depending on the individual and their needs.
Q: Is there anything Ayurveda can't help?
A: The answer to that question is 'yes' and 'no'. Some times people can be connected to their health condition and they just aren't ready to do what is necessary to help themselves heal and in that circumstance there is nothing that can be done until that person is ready to change. But, for the majority of conditions Ayurveda can greatly improve or help eliminate the condition all together. There are many factors to consider when looking at a condition. Some of these factors are the age of a client, how long they have had the condition, if it is genetic, and how deep it has moved into the tissue. These questions will be asked during the consultation.
Q: What happens during the consultation?
A: The initial consultation is about understanding your current health needs and what your biggest concern is. You will be asked a lot of questions about how your body functions, I will take a physical assessment of you which means I will look at your body, bones, skin, tongue, eyes and take your pulse to determine where you are out of balance and what your balanced dosha(s) may be. Basically there is a lot of conversation so that I get a good understanding about you and your needs.
